SID-Israel is the umbrella organization of the Israeli professional community in the fields of humanitarian aid and international development, bringing together civil society organizations, government institutions, academic and research programs, private companies, consultants and independent experts.
About us
Our vision is to create a professional and productive community that works together with communities in the developing world and in disaster areas based on respect and reciprocity.
The renewal of the activity of the Israeli branch came after decades of a significant decrease in the Israeli contribution to the field of international development since the 1970s, both in terms of funding and scope of activity.
Since its establishment, SID-Israel has been working to create a multi-sector community in the field of development and international aid, to raise awareness and responsibility of the issue within Israeli society, to encourage a supportive government environment, and to professionalize those working in the field.

How we started
The activity of the Israeli branch of the Society for International Development (SID-Israel) was renewed in 2011 at the initiative of the late Dr. Yehuda Paz. Dr. Paz was a world-renowned expert in the fields of international development and cooperation who saw before his eyes an Israeli society contributing professionally to needy populations in disaster areas and developing countries around the world.
SID-Israel was also established thanks to the generosity and contribution of The Pears Foundation, which has been supporting us from inception and continues to do so. The Pears Foundation is a British family foundation whose roots are deeply rooted in Jewish values, and which works to implement values of global responsibility. The foundation supports numerous programs focusing on the education of the next generation of Jewish and Israeli activity that significantly influences the world for the better.
SID-Israel is the Israeli branch of SID–The Society for International Development, which is a global forum of individuals and institutions engaged in sustainable international, economic, and social development since 1957. Over the years, the international organization has been at the forefront of the development of theory and practice in the field of international development.
The global organization has independent branches around the world, and over 3,000 members in different countries. Beyond the organization's influence, by virtue of this extensive international network, SID gains special advisory status in numerous international organizations, among them the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations ECOSOC, IFAD, ILO, FAO, UNCTAD, UNEP, UNESCO, UNFPA, UNICEF.
