An important part of the mission of SID Israel is to promote policy change. The goal of this policy change is to increase governmental support and services to Israeli companies in the developing world and encourage international expansion. To advocate for policy change, SID Israel consults with key stakeholders, introduces and supports legislation, and forms strategic partnerships. Information gathering is done through consulting with Israeli actors and stakeholders, such as the Israel Global Impact 2030 and Israeli Humanitarian Aid Policy, in order to identify avenues for government involvement. This has resulted in the adoption of two major advances: the Israeli Government Resolution No. 4021, a resolution to promote Israeli activity in the developing world, and the Inter-Governmental Committee, chaired by the Prime Minister’s Director General and that develops policy recommendations for Israeli engagement in international development. SID-Israel also advocates for Israeli CSOs working in Israel and abroad to gain access to greater financial assistance from the government and has successfully advocated for tax deduction on donations made to CSOs. Furthermore, it has worked to make volunteering in NGOs and CSOs abroad easier. Collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has improved the visa process for Israelis wishing to do long-term volunteer work in Asia. Similarly, work is underway to expand the National Insurance scheme to help Israelis representing international organizations abroad. Lastly, SID Israel focuses on developing strategic partnerships to increase networking, the sharing of information and expenses, and increasing awareness to reach new audiences. These partnerships have included high level officials of several governmental departments: the Prime Minister’s office, the Ministry of Economy and Trade, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, and The Ministry of Social Affairs.
