The Arena magazine
In these times, as regional and international challenges intensify, we are pleased to present a special edition of the "Arena" magazine from Reichman University, edited in collaboration with SID-Israel. This edition focuses on the role of Israeli foreign aid as a diplomatic tool and as a lever to strengthen our position on the international stage.
The articles in this edition address pressing issues that highlight the relevance of foreign aid, particularly now: Ambassador Eynat Shlein, head of MASHAV, emphasizes the direct connection between foreign aid and national security and the need to deepen ties with developing countries, especially in light of the "Operation Iron Swords" events; Osnat Lubrani offers an in-depth approach to the issue of humanitarian aid to Gaza, examining the strategic advantages of such a move for Israel; Tzafrir Asaf and Lior Dabush explore the potential for international cooperation in the region with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, proposing the development of Gaza as a first joint project; and Tomer Barak proposes a regional strategy for managing climate change as a basis for new collaborations in the Middle East.
This is a critical time for deepening understanding and expanding the discourse on foreign aid as a central tool in advancing diplomatic and security interests. Our special edition aims to provide new insights and invites you to participate in this complex discourse as Israel faces unprecedented challenges.
The articles and opinion columns published in "Arena" magazine represent the personal views of the authors only and do not necessarily reflect the official positions of SID-Israel, the magazine, the editorial team, the Abba Eban Institute for International Diplomacy, or Reichman University.
